Following the quest for qualitative education, developing and building a sound mind in students through a well defined academic institution, The University of Calabar International Demonstration Secondary School was set up on the 30th of October, 1995 during the Vice-Chancellorship of Late Professor Richard Sule.
On inception, the school had one hundred and one (101) students comprising of both male and female students. It had ten teaching staff and seven non-teaching staff. The pioneeer principal was Mrs. R. N. Umozuike. The school’s first site was Government Primary School Obufa Esuk, Goldie Street Calabar.
A year and three months later, on 20th January 1997, the school moved to it’s permanent site, where it is today along Unical Hall 2 road, Calabar.
On November 2013, a change of name ensued. The name was changed from The University of Calabar International Secondary School to The University of Calabar International Demonstration Secondary School with the Motto: Excellence, Strength and Service.
