School Life

There are a variety of fee-based clubs for students to join throughout the year.

The homelike quality of our school contributes to a relaxed, focused experience for the child. Our indoor classroom activities are placed on open shelves for selection as interest and readiness inspires the child. Our outdoor environment offers a beautiful developed playground with manipulatives, tricycles, pets, and gardens.

Culture

Cultural activities are part of the wider curriculum, and are taught and practiced through Music, Art, Drama and Nigerian Studies in both formal teaching and non-formal activities. Visits to plays and other cultural events in various cities across the country from time to time form a part of our wider curriculum.

The school puts on its own drama, music and cultural performances in an academic year. There are also a number of drama, speech and music competitions which allow individuals and groups to showcase their talents.

Sports

At UCIDSS, sports and academic excellence are our way of life.

SPORTING HOUSES

All students of UCIDSS belong to one of four sporting houses:

  • Red,
  • Green,
  • Yellow,
  • Blue.

UCIDSS is intensifying its efforts to achieve excellence in sports. The school prides itself on high levels of participation and competition success.

We teach our students to learn the value of taking care of themselves through healthy eating, exercise knowledge, successful academics, high self-confidence, good sportsmanship and a positive lifestyle. We have a structured Physical Education Programme where students learn to unwind and relieve themselves of stress and anxiety allowing them to function more effectively in the classrooms.

The school has the best natural grassed football field to be found anywhere in Nigeria with a multipurpose court which serves volleyball, tennis and basketball.
